Cookies, A/B testing, and optional analytics
On the first visit, the server randomly assigns page A or B and a signed cookie keeps that browser in the same group for up to 180 days. De-identified first-party experiment events automatically record page path, interface language, grouped acquisition source, coarse device class, and whether parsing, downloading, pricing, ordering, or payment succeeded. They never include full referrer URLs, search terms, submitted video links, email addresses, advertising identifiers, or payment credentials. Google Analytics 4 loads only after you choose “Allow optional analytics”; Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled, and Microsoft Clarity remains off. The footer privacy choice controls optional GA4 only and does not disable first-party A/B assignment or experiment statistics.
Self-service rights
From your account, you can download your account data or submit an account-deletion request. Legal retention, payment reconciliation, anti-fraud, and dispute obligations may limit deletion.
Windows app data processing
The Windows app reads supported links that you intentionally copy on your device to pre-parse and create download tasks. Links, titles, cookies, filenames, and media are not included in product analytics. When signed in, HSK processes account and random device identifiers, app and system versions, membership and credit records, task status, and support tickets you submit.
Optional product analytics
Product analytics and fault diagnostics are separate choices and do not affect downloads. If you enable product analytics, the app sends only allowlisted feature events, quality categories, duration and speed ranges, and structured error codes. Product events are retained for no more than 180 days. You can turn this off at any time and use account export or deletion controls.
Browser extension data processing
Only after you explicitly start a download on the active YouTube video or Short does the extension inspect public player data and media requests for that tab. Selected media bytes travel directly from Googlevideo to your browser, are temporarily stored in the browser’s private Origin Private File System (OPFS), and are merged, encoded, or converted locally. Media bytes are never uploaded to HSK servers.
Accounts and browser permissions
For sign-in, entitlement checks, credit accounting, and task recovery, HSK may process your account identifier and email, a random device identifier, the current video URL, selected format, task status and progress, and membership or credit records. storage, unlimitedStorage, and offscreen support local state and media processing; identity opens only the HSK authorization flow; downloads saves user-requested files; webRequest and tabs identify streams for the active video; and notifications reports completion. The extension does not read YouTube cookies, Google account data, unrelated browsing history, clipboard contents, or payment credentials.
Browser store user data policy
HSK Download’s use and transfer of information received from browser extension APIs complies with applicable browser-store user data policies. Extension user data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing download, account, and task-recovery features. We do not sell it, use it for personalized advertising, unrelated purposes, or creditworthiness, or transfer it except as necessary for a user-requested service, security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
